If Only the People Were As Polite

JooYoun Paek displayed the polite umbrella on her site. This is probably one of the smartest ideas ever with one crux. The way the Polite Umbrella works is that you pull down on the handle and the umbrella bows into you. As a result you block off any rain, wind, clear path of vision and also avoid bumping into others. This is a key feature, especially in NYC where people love their golf umbrellas and don’t realize there are others on the street. The crux- you still have to depend on the umbrella holder to actually pull down the handle and not act tough / “why should I bow my umbrella?” Great design and I would love to see it in action.
